Valentines and things

I know I'm a little late on the whole Valentine's day business, but I'd just like to share some instances of love in the past few days or so.

On Sunday, I went to a Laurier concert at St Mary's Church in Kitchener. It was a really good performance of Monteverdi's Vespers, and I somewhat satisfied my lack of musical stuffs in my life. I went partially because I have to do a concert report for MUSIC 100 but also because a really good sister of mine was performing in it. Needless to say, it was very impressive show, with 150 singers from like, 4 or 5 Laurier choirs altogether, and the instrumentation was really cool. There was a full symphony orchestra plus Baroque-era instruments, such as lutes, Baroque guitar, as well as harpsichord and organ. Anyway, I hope she enjoyed having a "personal" audience out there! If you're reading this, I love you, and you are a fantastic singer and musician :)

Monday was a fun day. I half meant that sarcastically because Mondays are long for me, because I have class until 9 pm. However, it wasn't half bad because of various interesting moments throughout the day (such as when an a capella group from Laurier came into the SOC 101 class and serenaded a Nicholas in our class. Apparently he has a secret admirer. CUTE!). I also gave out lots of valentines to my girlfriends, and made (and ate TOO many) cupcakes with a sister. :) I love giving out valentines. It's silly and cute, but to me, it means so much more than just a little card with a picture and a few words. To me, it's a simple and easy but big way to show some love. I think one can never have too much love in their lives. A little goes a long way. I hope that my sisters are encouraged and that they feel loved because I truly do love them, and I meant every word I wrote on those teeny cards... heeehehehehehehe! ;) ;)

Tuesdays are always busy. Everyone seems to assume that on Tuesdays I have nothing to do, which is actually the complete opposite of the truth. Although Tuesdays and Thursdays are without classes, I usually have a lot to do... yoga, meetings, skating, DG... all of that good stuff. I don't mind being busy, but it would be nice if people would stop scoffing at me, haha.

Anyway, on Tuesday, I met up with the girl I tutor through UWET, since I left for home on Thursday when we usually meet. She gave me valentine cupcakes (ahh, so sweet of her!) and I gave her a valentine. When I was writing the little message on the card, I suddenly had the urge to share the gospel with her. I'm majorly paraphrasing but I wrote something like, "I hope I can show God's love through helping you in English! Let me know if you ever need any help with anything". I felt like I needed to write this. During our first session, I told her that I'm Christian. I don't know if she is, too, or anything. After one of our sessions, I told her I had to leave right away because I was off to another meeting. She told me that I was "such a kind person, always volunteering and helping others". I have no idea where she got the basis for those words, but, I don't know. I felt like I had to make it clear to her that I didn't do things just for my own benefit, and that I do things out of love from God. I hope she reads my valentine. :) And I super hope that God will use me to share the gospel with her, and continue to love her through my tutoring.

I had an awesome dinner on Tuesday. :D My friends can REALLY cook. Thanks for the good food and good company! You guys are the best.

This week, I learned that listening and forgiving are huge acts of love, too. And that they go a long way. Friendships are never too late to be mended. Now only if I would just muster up enough courage to do what I preach, then I would be set...

On Thursday, I woke up super early to catch the 9 am Greyhound. My brother wanted me to go home early so that he could see me before he left for Tremblant. So jealous! But yeah, hehe, I thought it was cute that he insisted that I hop on the 9 am instead of the 12 pm Greyhound. I love my brother. WHAT DO I GET HIM FOR HIS BIRTHDAY?!?!?!

All that summary and blah-ing aside, I have noticed that there are always instances of love. I just have to be willing and ready to give, and to notice the little things.
